Bantug
Bantug is an artist, producer, and songwriter from Lilburn, Georgia. Her musical journey began in 2012 when she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 19. Initially, she felt out of place in the folk-dominated indie scene, but persisted, playing gigs and writing music. As Nashville's appetite for experimental pop grew, so did Bantug's style, and she found her niche among standout songwriters who were bending the soundscape. A subsequent move to Los Angeles further expanded her community and propelled her music to new heights.
Today, Bantug’s style continues to evolve. Rooted in indie pop, each of her projects showcases a distinct sound, marrying elements from the 80s, emo, R&B, and funk with existential hooks. She has opened for notable artists such as Men I Trust, Halfnoise, and Hovvdy, captivating fans with her carefree stage presence, and has also been a hired musician for Fazerdaze and Madeline The Person. Her music has been featured on playlists such as Fresh Finds, Indie Pop, All New Indie, Undercurrents, Lorem, and Dope AF. Additionally, a track created under the moniker ‘mandimore’ was featured in the Poland Oscar-qualifying International Animated Film Festival.
During the 2020 pandemic, Bantug found solace in her home studio, where producing new songs became a grounding exercise and a means to stay connected with other artists. She has collaborated with talents like BEL, TRACE, and Ellie Schmidly, continually pushing the boundaries of her sound.
